KEEN supports work to protect public lands and rivers for salmon, clean water and people.
PORTLAND, Oregon; April 18, 2019—The Wild Salmon Center and Keen are teaming up next week to protect great public lands and waters in Oregon and around the Pacific.
As part of the first Earth Day OR campaign, from April 22nd to April 28th KEEN will be donating 15% of their Portland and Palo Alto store sales to Wild Salmon Center's work.
Earth Day OR is a new statewide initiative in Oregon to increase the impact of Earth Day. Sustainably minded businesses have pledged to make a cash donation to earth-focused nonprofits in Oregon in recognition of the good work these organizations do in our communities and for our planet.
“We’re extremely grateful for KEEN’s pledge of support this week and to the company’s overall commitment to protecting public lands and recreation across the country,” said Audie Paulus of Wild Salmon Center.
As part of the campaign, Wild Salmon Center will be urging Oregonians to call Governor Kate Brown and ask her to designate a 17-mile stretch of the Nehalem River as a State Scenic Waterway. The finalized proposal to protect this salmon stronghold and recreation destination is awaiting her signature.
“We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Wild Salmon Center and their work protecting salmon strongholds,” says Kirk Richardson of KEEN’s CSR department. “The combination of our business voice, the non-profit community, and our fans bringing constant pressure, endlessly applied is what gets these conservation goals across the finish line. It’s our collective responsibility.”
