Salomon Launches Women’s Weekend Contest

Participants can enter to win an exclusive getaway by bashing female stereotypes on social media

Ogden, UTAH (April 30, 2019) — As part of its ongoing women’s campaign, Salomon is launching its second annual Women’s Weekend contest inviting outdoor women to win the adventure weekend of a lifetime. The exclusive multisport trip will take place June 20–23, 2019 in a secret, European mountain town. Participants can enter to win one of the 10 available spots by submitting their own versions of Salomon’s new advertising campaign, featuring outdoor-minded photos that fly in the face of female clichés and stereotypes. From these entries, Salomon will select 20 finalists, and the winners will be chosen via social media polls as well as an official jury.

“Last summer, for the first ever Salomon Women’s Weekend, we invited influencers from around the world to the French Alps around our headquarters in Annecy, and it was a huge success,” says Helena Celestini, Salomon’s global sport specialist for outdoor. “This year, we are opening the weekend to our followers and moving the location to another exciting, European mountain town. We’re thrilled to open this opportunity to women who are passionate about our brand and the outdoors, to see what they post and hear directly from the people that use our products.”

The 10 lucky winners will enjoy a long weekend of outdoor activities, from hiking and biking to kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, with a group of like-minded adventurous women that include a few of Salomon’s top athletes and ambassadors like Kalen Thorien, Liv Zansoz and Alex Borsuk.

Starting on April 25, women can enter the contest by posting their photo and cliché combination on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Salomon.com including the tags #SalomonWMN and @Salomon. Submissions must be received by May 7 and the winners will be announced on May 20. The Salomon Women’s Weekend will then take place this summer, June 20–23.  

The contest coincides with the launch of Salomon’s 2019 women-focused outdoor campaign, which features women in the outdoors participating in activities that contrast with old female clichés. The goal is to connect with the growing number of women who have a passion for outdoor sports, specifically hiking, in a way that empowers and enables women to play outside.

At Salomon’s Annecy Design Center (ADC,) women play a vital role in the development of the outdoor range of footwear, apparel and gear. From concept creation and design to product management and marketing, there are a minimum of 15 women involved in the process of a bringing a new outdoor range to the marketplace. They are experts in biomechanics, fit, materials and product usage and are constantly studying the evolution of outdoor sports. They are also hikers, climbers, runners, skiers and mountain bikers themselves. These Salomon women are an essential part of bringing this new campaign to life, too.
